How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
In construction, the hours are very long but depending on the team your manager will be flexible with your schedule.

Working as a casual makes my working hours very flexible, However I do maintain the same start time and finish the same depending on my commitments after work. Obviously what you put into your week you get rewarded when it comes to pay day.

They are quite flexible when I need to take days off for uni. Of course the more days of work the better, as the site is changing every day.

Can be long - but this is expected in the industry. Fairly flexible around hours and working from home.

It depends on when I get my work done. Sometimes it would 10 hour shifts or 9 hour shifts. They are flexible about my studies and when I need to take day off for classes.

Lendlease is very flexible with my university timetable and I was able to work more in the university break.

While I never exercised any flexible working hours (other then time spend at home due to covid) the office was very accommodating to people commitments with children, health issues and WFH requirements.

I was expecting 10+ hour days plus Saturdays, however there is a big focus and movement towards work/life balance at Lendlease. As an undergrad they capped us at 45 hrs a week maximum. My construction manager would often talk about the importance of work/life balance.

The job requires a lot of hours which can sometimes be tiring. However, this is very normal for the industry. I also believe Lendlease are implementing a lot of changes to try to reduce these hours. For example, engineers are put on a roster to work Saturdays rather than being required to work every Saturday. Staff are also able to leave early on Fridays and RDOs.
